(Shameless selfie of author, who is way too old to be taking selfies.)

Laura Holmes is a Brooklyn-based writer and creative director for an advertising agency in NYC. She started The Selfish Caregiver as a way to talk about the uniquely confusing and sucky experience of losing her father, mother, and best friend to cancer while she was in her 20s–a decade generally reserved for feeling invincible, even in the face of tequila. In the author’s case, the invincibility theory was debunked, but plenty of tequila was gladly consumed.

In her limited free time, she enjoys dabbling in amateur photography, nerding-out about music, sipping whisky, and finding new and exciting ways to make her already messy personal life even messier. The latter is by far her greatest talent.
